* gar’-d’-n-er (kepouros): “Gardener” occurs once in the English Versions of the Bible (Joh 20:15), the translation of kepos and ouros, “warden” or “keeper.” It is likely that the man referred to was the watchman or keeper (Arabic natur; Hebrew notser), corresponding to those mentioned in 2Ki 17:9; 18:8; Job 27:18, etc., and not one who did the manual labor. It is the common practice in Palestine today to set a watchman over a garden during its productive season.

Gatekeepers 09/05/15
Gatekeepers have three primary roles
- To protect the Lord’s house. This means they defend the gospel, the truth of the Word and Protect the holiness of God’s house. Their hearts are on fire with the Fear of the Lord. They want the Lord’s house to be a house of Prayer and they are not content until they see the Lord’s will come to place. The gatekeeper protects the House. They know the scriptures well and are full of understanding. They are bold to speak out against the sins of the church- even if it means they will be mocked, hated or even kicked out of the church. They stay close to the House of the Lord
- They keep the Lord’s people on the right path, keeping them from drifting from the Lord. As a staff or sheepdog would keep the sheep together from straying, so the role of gatekeeper is the same. He is responsible to oversee the people, gently guide the drifter back and keep those on the threshold of evil paths from taking another step in the wrong direction. They are bold and not afraid to tell the truth of God;s word, knowing full well they are saving many from the fires of eternal hell.Theyare prayer warriors and intercessors for the people
- They keep watch for the master’s return; ready to usher in the King of Glory

The Churches Legacy
At a church meeting late last year I also believe that a “spirit of passivity” was “blocking” the flow of the spirit. I assumed it was related to the word I received about “ideologies”, but later the Lord led me back to it and added “legacy”- i.e. “something” from the past.
I have been busy so I have only just had time to seek the Lord about “Legacy”. The Lord gave me “sins of the fathers” (Exod 20:5b, Num 14:18) and “identificational repentance”(2 Chron 7:14, Jer 14:20, Dan 9:20, Neh 1:6, Lev 26:40). This suggested that something had happened in the churches past that appeared to require more repentance. I hope this makes sense?
In 1961 the vicar of the church was known to be a Freemason and for his sexual immorality. He was defrocked for committing adultery with a Sunday school teacher and for sexually assaulting the curates wife and three teenage girls in the congregation. There is no evidence that he repented, but rather that he continued his “amorous” ways as a non-conformed minister.
Derek Prince (2006) , Peter Horribin (1991), Alistair Petrie (2000) and Ken Hepworth (2003) all warn about the consequences for churches with a history of Freemasonry and/or sexual sin. Not long after we joined the church we had a picture of a black dog near the altar. We did not think very much about it at the time, but given the word about “legacy” it made more sense. Black dogs are considered to be a familiar of triune goddess Hecate and Hecate to be associated with Masonry as well as being the goddess of sex and death.
Alistair Petrie’s states (2000 Page 151) that Freemasonry falls under all four major categories ofsin: idolatry, Sexual immorality, untimely bloodshed and broken covenants. He goes on to say that “yet for many years the Church has willingly opened her doors to receive this Trojan horse. Once inside the Church, the spirit of Freemasonry permeates almost every component of ministry”.
Peter Horribin mentions (1991 Page 92) a link between Masonry and mind controlling spirits (including passivity) making it hard to understand spiritual truth … and be filled or anointed with the Holy Spirit.
According to Horribin (1991 Page 100) “Spirits of Freemasonry will legalistically exercise their right over whatever congregation is gathered in that church for all of time. They will hold the fellowship into the bondage of the past, unless the matter is properly dealt with through repentance for the sins of the ancestors by the present day leadership of the church, and by effective spiritual warfare against the ruling spirits through praise, worship and deliverance ministry. Effective cleansing of both churches and individuals requires specific ministry to deal with the legalistic rights that demons have”.
I am wondering if after the vicar left the church the subsequent leadership engaged in “identificational” repentance and wondered if more needs to be done?

More on Ideologies
I do believe that there were one/two people who are trying to follow God and some other ideology.
I believe that God loves them very much and it brakes his heart seeing them follow after other ideologies.
I believe the Lord would want to say to them that if they want to be baptised and filled with Spirit they have to be prepared to renounce the ideology and follow God wholeheartedly.

Batteries Not Included
On Sunday night when you asked us to come forward to pray for each other, the Lord gave me the word “tuned-out” and I believe he was encouraging us all to tune back in. I should have come forward but others needed prayer.
We tune-out because of interference, or we move into an area of poor reception or our batteries are dead. When we tune out we lose direction, affirmation, encouragement, our truth antenna, guidance, correction, our moral compass, strength and our ability to operate in the gifts.
In order to tune-in we need to ask for the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13) and be continually filled (Eph 5:18) – which is a big challenge.

When Vision and Reality Catch Up
About 20 years ago I was gutted to discover I had been expelled from a country I have lived in for 7 years (and not by the government). I was very upset and could not believe what had happened. I was in need of inner healing and restoration and I spent a week at a Christian Healing Centre
I briefly shared my vision for a distant land and about half way through the week the Lord gave a picture of a place in the distant land to one of the healers (and I was given a picture as well)
1) It was a village (situated on an alluvial fan) next to a river
2) It had a waterfall (not very close to the village)
3) The people knew about Jesus but did not love him
I have looked for the village for the last 20 years without success, until Sept 2013, when I spent a month there. It was not easy to find as it is situated at 3200m and at the end of an 18km hike involving a climb of 1000m
Two days after I arrived I was asked about my faith by a local gentleman who knew about Jesus but was a devout Buddhist.
I am not sure where things go from here but I am making plans to return as clearly I have a mandate to be there.

Are You Fulfilled?
+ A Picture of a roaring Lion
If I understand Hos 11:1-10 and Amos 3:8 correctly the Lord roars like a Lion (through the prophets) to bring his people back to himself and to his ways
+ A Picture of a mature green tree covered in bright white lights
[I was reminded of a word I received on 8/11/09 about “delighting in him” and he providing light and strength]
+ I received prayer for my digestive tract
+ A Picture of a 3 stranded cord
It represents the Lord, you and your wife
+ God Loves you and he wants you to share with him at a deeper level – it is not unmanly or childish
+ A Picture given to my wife (but for me) of a “Flintstone” Car
that was big and heavy with stone wheels. A wooden pole went through the car and rested on your shoulders and your husbands. Both of you were trying to push the car but not going anywhere. God is asking you (but your husband in particular) to take the pole out of the car and give it to God. Get in the car and let God drive the engine. Hand it ALL over to God and as you do that the car will go faster but you must release everything to God. As you do the car will go fast and turn into a red sports car
+ Are You Fulfilled (need to seek the Lord for current mandate)

“The Doors Will Close”
In attempting to understand the following prophetic words – “the doors will close”, that were shared with me, I was given two scriptures
- “a seared conscience” (kartaxio suneidesis) (Tim 4:1-2)
- “God gave them over” (paradidomi) (Rom 1:24-28 Acts 7:42)
I subsequently asked the Lord for the meaning of the words and the application
I believe that a Christian’s conscience (suneidesis) becomes seared (kartaxio), cauterised or deceived when they
- Pay heed to false spirits and false doctrines
- Continually ignore the promptings of the Lord/Holy Spirit directly or through God’s people
- “Mix spirits” (Derek Prince 2008)
- Fail to test the spirits
If Christians continue along this path I believe that eventually God can “give them over” (paradidomi) or (in legal parlance) “remand them in custody pending judgement”. While ‘in custody’ God removes the constraints of evil and abandons them to
- Wrong living/loving/thinking (Rom 1:24-28),
- Wrong worship (Acts 7:42)
- A reprobate mind (adokimon) that is void of discernment or judgement
I believe that the “door closing” is synonymous, in this case, with being “given over” or “placed in custody”.

Do you trust in men or God?
(Bible tells us to trust in the Lord (Prov 3:5-6) and not in weapons (Ps 20:7), riches (Prov 11:28), self (Prov 28:25-26), men (Ps 118:8), governments (Ps 118:9) or the words of men (Is 59:4)
Are there areas where you still need to forgive?
- gagging orders
- your voice not heard
- closure
- God
Are you angry?
Are you able to dare to dare to trust in leadership again?
Mat 6 (9-15) is for both of you
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one’
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Have you been released from the past and blessed for the future?
The Lord may use you, in the future to minister to others who have gone through spiritual abuse

For The Record
Dear All
We were so sorry we were unable to join with you last Sunday to say Goodbye but we were unwilling to be associated with the statement that appeared about us in the Pastor’s Jottings 2009 . As far as we were concerned it was full of half-truths, over-statement and misquotes from our resignation statement.
I would like to put the record straight
In my resignation statement for membership:-
1) I did NOT say that “the leaders are leading the church into apostasy”.
I DID say that “a new theology/new spirituality (found in the emerging church movement) was undermining the evangelical church and was paving the way for the apostate church” (I was quoting from a book and several web articles e.g http://www.renewamerica.com/analysis/hutchison/090518)
2) I did NOT equate apostasy with “God’s people abandoning the faith” but with mystic spirituality (adding to their faith) because it risks exposure to the world of spirits.
3) I did NOT say that “God has called me to be a mouthpiece to warn the church”
I DID say that “In 1976 the Lord called me as a mouthpiece (prophet) and I have been used of God in Nepal, China and UK but leadership have never publically released me into my calling or encouraged me to move out in my gifting. This puzzles me because the pastor in two prophetic words told me I was a “warrior and mouthpiece” and told me that I was the churches “antenna”
4) I did NOT say that “the way the church operates its membership IS coercive, manipulative and controlling”.
I DID express concerns when we were asked to discuss the new membership model (in 2005) that “the membership bar had been raised too high and (in my opinion) compliance could only be maintained through coercion, manipulation and control”. I also said that people would leave
5) I did NOT say that leaders were “psychologically and emotionally UNABLE to take seriously the concerns expressed by the congregation”.
I DID say I was “unsure if the church had a deliberate policy of “neutralising” legitimate concerns or their response rests with the psycho-emotional state of the leaders”. All I do know is that, on several occasions, leadership got cross with me for raising concerns or imagined my concerns were rooted in some psycho-emotional condition rather than promptings from the Lord
6) I did NOT accuse leadership of “leading the church away from the true faith in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit” but of failing to recognize that there were some dangers in mystic spirituality.
7) It is only partially correct to suggest that I expressed my concerns about mystic spirituality (to the Oversight) because the pastor denied that we had studied any emerging church material (John Eldridge and Ray Simpson have embraced Emerging Church theology) and initially that we had read the Purpose Driven Life (we read it three times). The Oversight was much more concerned about neutralising me and defending the pastor. I was challenged about my concerns about “How to hear God Voice” by two members of the oversight. One of them could not remember Page 85 of Chapter 3 (Mystic Spirituality –aka “Being Still” Chart) and the other failed to provide any bible references for meditation predicated on a self-induced altered state of alpha consciousness or for the biofeedback techniques advocated by Mark Virkler
8) I DID mention that for most of our time at church we were very happy and very committed
I would like to close this email with the following pictures, word and scripture the Lord gave me about the dangers of mystic spirituality on 7th March 2009
Pictures
1) A large river with a tiny polluted stream joining it
2) a mill race with an open grill/trash rack*
* The head race of a water mill usually includes a sediment trap and a grill/trash rack. The latter is a structural device used to prevent debris from entering a mill race or other hydraulic structure
Word
“purity” (doctrinal)
Scripture
Galatians 5:9 “A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough”
We do hope we can reach closure on an individual basis, in the new year

Pastors Jottings
A and B have decided after 7.5 years at the church, to move on. They are very sad as the reasons are very particular.
They feel that the leaders are leading the church into apostasy (when God’s people abandon the faith) through the books they have chosen for the congregation to study, and the people we have connected with as a church.
A believes God has called him to be a mouthpiece to warn the church, and that the leaders are denying him the opportunity to use this gift.
They believe the way the church operates its membership is coercive, manipulative and controlling, and they do feel the leaders either do not take seriously the concerns expressed by the congregation or are psychologically and emotionally unable to.
They felt a particular lack of pastoral care in 2008 while going through some very particular challenges personally.
A expressed his concerns to the elders and also to the Oversight while they were with us for some meetings. We have given them prayerful consideration, and in some cases have apologised for any short comings on our part. We and the afore mentioned oversight, to whom we make ourselves accountable, believe we have no case to answer in leading the church away from the true faith in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We love our brother and sister, and are deeply saddened by their decision to leave.

Closure
Our hope and prayer is that as a result of this meeting we can achieve bilateral reconciliation and go forward to all the God has for us all with his blessings. We do want to conduct ourselves in humility and peace and be “restored to friendship and harmony” with you (reconciliation)
When we prayed post-resignation the Lord gave us the following
He told us:- to Forgive – not to judge or retaliate – to have compassion (on the Oversight) – and give up our rights
Rom 8:31 If God is for you who can be against us?
Ps 37:37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright; there is a future/posterity for the man of peace.
Eccles 7: 8&9 The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride. Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.
Ps 55:22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
Forgiveness
We would like to ask the leadership to forgive us because we have not always honoured, esteemed, respected and cherished you in our hearts and please forgive us if we have wanted to judge or retaliate
We would like to forgive you for the times we have felt let down or mistreated
Compassion (feel for)
I would like to forgive the oversight for the way they mistreated me on Sunday 25th Oct and pray that the Lord would give me more compassion for them
Rights
I choose to give up my rights and my calling as a mouthpiece and lay it at the cross
Unity of the Spirit
I pray that we can bilaterally agree to disagree in the “unity of the spirit” with the 8 concerns I presented to leadership.
Blessings
We do pray that God blesses your ministry and that we can stay in contact
(Membership Statement – I have provided “as is” – I can not discuss this without going over old ground)
Members Statement
It was with great sadness and regret that we tendered our resignation from membership and the church on Wednesday 28th Oct and it was accepted on 29th Oct 09.
We realised during the summer that we could not remain true to ourselves and remain in the church. We have considered leaving the church several times over the last two years and we have offered our resignation from membership (but not the church) 3 times. We had hoped and prayed that following the departures of others during the last year that leadership would change their approach and modus operandi.
Sadly nothing changed and things reached a critical mass on Sunday 25th Oct when I was served with a gagging order and our involvement became untenable. The Lord `has raised me up as a mouthpiece but I was being denied any future opportunity to exercise my gifting.
We have been part of the church for 7.5 years and for most of that time we were very happy and very committed. Gradually however, over the last 4 years, the Lord has alerted me to the following concerns which I have raised with leadership
1) PDC – inspired membership model
I was never comfortable with the Purpose Driven Church-inspired membership model that was introduced about 4 years ago. I told my life group leader that the membership bar had been raised too high and it could only be maintained through coercion, manipulation and control. I told him people would leave. (I would have preferred Ken McGreavey’s open tent model). Although we were unhappy with the model we chose to go along with it at the beginning.
2) Questionable alignments with New Spirituality
Alignment – “Joining with others (un/knowingly) in a common cause” (Random House Dictionary Online 2009)
Beginning with “Wild at Heart” the Lord began to show me that a new theology/new spirituality was undermining the evangelical church and was paving the way for the apostate church. 30 years ago Francis Schaeffer warned us that religious existentialism had invaded the protestant church and was beginning to invade the evangelical church. I thought he had lost the plot but within the last 5 years a new theology that majors on mystic spirituality (aka contemplative spirituality) has invaded the evangelical church through the following “trajectories” (which we have embraced):‑
- The Emerging Church Movement (John Eldredge) + RS
- The Purpose Driven Church (Rick Warren)
- New Monasticism (Ray Simpson)
- IHOP (Mike Bickle)
- Spiritual Formation (Smith and Graybeal, Foster)
- Christian Leadership University (Mark Virkler)
Mystic spirituality resonates with both New Age Spirituality and the mystic unity of the New World Order. It is predicated on a belief system that uses ancient mystical practices to induce altered states of consciousness (the silence) and is rooted in mysticism and the occult but often wrapped in Christian terminology.
The premise of contemplative spirituality is pantheistic (God is all) and panentheistic (God is in all).
Self-induced altered states of consciousness are very dangerous, because the brain’s analytical and critical faculties close down, and the mind is open to the world of spirits. Even Richard Foster warns us of the dangers and many RC mystics had bad or homo/erotic experiences. There are examples in the Bible of altered states of consciousness but it is always God who induces them and not man. (Operating in the gifts of the Spirit and speaking in tongues does not open the mind to the world of spirits)
Although I raised these concerns with leadership (beginning with “Wild at Heart”) they did not appear to act on them. Every time I took my concerns back to the Lord he revealed more “trajectories” of new (age) spirituality that we were aligning ourselves with. He also gave me words of knowledge and pictures.
3) Questionable Alignments with London Citizens
I was also concerned about our alignment with London Citizens. When I was asked to represent the church at London Citizens and I prayed about it the Lord said “it was the right issues but wrong forum” and so I have not participated. I also asked leadership the following questions but never received answers
- Whose name is London Citizens acting in
- Aren’t be being unequally yoked with unbelievers
- Aren’t we trying to advance the kingdom using the world’s methods
- Who gets the glory
My concerns increased recently when I was encouraged to be involved in London Citizens because I was told it:-
“provides an opportunity to recognise Christ IN the midst of a gathering made up of believers, unbelievers and everything in between………………………………………. and to recognise Christ IN friend and foe”
This statement worried me and reminded me of Ray Simpson’s concept of “uniting all beliefs in himself’!
If I understand Mat 18:20 correctly there are two conditions “For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst”. most of London Citizens are not gathered in his name!
Christ was not IN me until I asked him into my life as my Lord and Saviour.
Behold I stand at the door and knock (Rev 3:20) suggests that Christ is not IN us until we ask him.
If anyone is IN Christ he is a new creature (2 Cor 5:17) – are we saying that all those attending London Citizens are new creatures?
Recognizing Christ in all people is predicated on the views of some RC Mystics (Caryll Houselander and Brennan Manning*), some Quakers (Douglas Gwyn) and a New Age Christ. The New Age Christ is all things to all people and his energies work through all people of goodwill, regardless of any religious or philosophical attachments. This Christ (spirit) does not look at ones concept of God or man, but ignores it, and aims to bring all religions into mystic unity.
* Brennan Manning is a Roman Catholic (a former priest) who denies the substitutionary atonement of Christ, believes Christ is in all men, and mocks the Bible-only position.
4) Lack of Pastoral Care in 2008
2008 was a very difficult year for us and I was carrying a very heavy emotional support load (one sister was dying of cancer, my mother was ill and trying to move into a care home, another sister was going through a divorce and my wife was having a hard time at work).
I wrote formally twice to leadership asking if we could be released from all our membership commitments and heard nothing. I offered to resign temporarily but heard nothing. On a number of occasions when we were unable to attend meetings through tiredness or emotional overload we were chastised for non-attendance and told that pastoral support could best be mediated through relational synergy (i.e. going to more meetings!). The Lord never gave us a mandate to go to Moldova (we just thought it would be a good idea) but we experienced chastisement for failing to go to all the prep meetings and psycho-emotional pressure when we tried to pull out.
Relational synergy cannot be used as a substitute for pastoral care and koinonia Leadership have recognized that they let us down in this area
5) Dealing Objectively with Legitimate Concerns
My other concern is about leadership’s response to legitimate concerns raised by church members. I am still unsure if the church has a deliberate policy of “neutralising” legitimate concerns or their response rests with the psycho-emotional state of the leaders. The leadership have failed to demonstrate to me that they are willing or prepared to deal objectively with legitimate concerns.
The Purpose Driven Church, for example, has a reputation for its intolerance of noncompliance. They have developed techniques for encouraging consensus between church members and of dealing with (neutralising-getting rid of) those who raise legitimate concerns. I have raised my concerns about the PDC approach with leadership but have received no response. All I do know is that on several occasions when I have met with leadership to raise concerns there has been an assumption that my concerns do not primarily stem from the promptings of the Lord but some emotional or psychological condition they imagine I am suffering from. I have lived and worked in some of the most remote and challenging areas on earth and no one has ever questioned my psycho-emotional state. I have deliberately been subject to what I can only describe as psycho-emotional manipulation.
We need to pray for leadership

Prophetic Encouragement
I believe the Lord has called you to be a gatekeeper
(In the prayer world the gatekeepers are leaders who guard the gates and they have a different role to watchmen)
I thought it was important for you to know that you have been called to be a gatekeeper
(I don’t know if you are walking in that now but I am only allowed to prophecy how the Lord sees you and what he is calling you into)
I see you standing on the wall and blowing a trumpet – of praise, declaration and emotion – a real sense of emotion and tears from you and the fathers heart
I was reminded of Nehemiah building the wall – he was not afraid of having a sad face in front of the King because of the situation in his Land (Neh 2:2). The Lord would have you build and guard – you are to know his strength that comes from him. I sense that you have a lot of questions in your heart but God wants to bring you encouragement, for you to know his presence and to let you know that he understands where you are at> He has given you the ability to build and guard.
God wants to turn you upside down. You have been “funnelling on the edge” but God wants to call you into the centre where the flow is strongest. He wants to strengthen you and encourage you. Its time to receive that strength – come into the centre
Lift Up Your Eyes – I sense you have a bent back and the battle has been heavy and you are bowed over with it. “Lift up your eyes – where does my help come from” (Ps 121:1) – Keep looking up and not at your circumstances
I also sensed that you have been standing alone but felt that the Lord was drawing others around you to be alongside you. He wants to remind you that you do not stand alone – there are others alongside – like on Nehemiah’s wall
“Delight Yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Ps 37:4) He is calling you to delight yourself in him – allow him to come into those places where he can bring his delight and light and strength. As you delight in him you are going to desire him more and your hearts become one
God has a new place for you beyond the mist and vagueness. There are a lot of waterfalls (power, energy, life, refreshment, washing away the old, renewing)
I also have a picture of soft brown felt boots (which I don’t fully understand) that are something to do with the flexibility that God is going to give you. The boots are comfortable and mould to the shape of your ankles and feet. They are connected with where you are walking (High Asia ?)

Sadness and Regret
Dear Pastors
It is with deep sadness and regret that we would like to inform you that we are resigning from membership (and leaving the church) with immediate effect
We will leave quietly as requested but hope we can have an opportunity to meet with leadership and membership so we can achieve good closure and reconciliation
If you want us to meet with membership, so we can achieve closure, please let us know what we can say as we don’t want to fall foul of the strictures of the “gagging” order

God Will Do it
Forgive – do not judge or retaliate – have compassion – give up rights
Rom 8:31 If God is for you who can be against you?
Psalm 37:37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright;
a future awaits those who seek peace.[a]
a Or upright; / those who seek peace will have posterity
Ecclesiastes 7:8-9
8 The end of a matter is better than its beginning,
and patience is better than pride.
9 Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit,
for anger resides in the lap of fools.
Psalm 55:22 Cast your cares on the LORD
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken.

Served with a Gagging Order
It was with some foreboding I attended the last in a series of “special meetings” in the church we used to attend. Interestingly the speaker broached a topic I had challenged the pastor about a few days before. The speaker warned us about the dangers of allowing new age spirituality (Christ in all of us) to enter the church and almost immediately the pastor beckoned me forward. The pastor asked me if I was willing to meet with the “oversight” at the end of the meeting to share my concerns. I naively imagined he had come under conviction of sin, and I would receive a fair hearing, so I agreed.
The meeting was a total travesty and it was obvious from the start that the members had been primed beforehand and consequently were hostile in their approach to me. They were not interested in hearing my concerns but only interested in defending the pastor. I shared my concerns about the influence of the Emerging church literature (Wild at Heart) and Purpose Driven Church theology (Purpose Driven Life) on the church and the pastors comments (to me) about “recognizing Christ in all at ‘London Citizens’” (a multi-faith and non-faith forum for tackling social issues)
- The pastor denied any influence from the Emerging church (EC) even though John Eldredge (the author of Wild at Heart) is part of the EC and Ray Simpson (on the churches “council of reference”) runs courses on the emerging church and his blog includes links to Brian McLaren
- The pastor denied we had ever read the Purpose Driven Life, even though I sent him a critique in mid Jan 2009, until his wife came to my defence and informed the gathering that we had read it three times!
- The pastor had to explain what “London Citizens” was for the benefit of the Oversight! – it was clear that he had not sought their blessing first, before committing the church to it.
- The speaker contrasted the total number of years the members of the oversight had been “in ministry” (as pastors) with mine. It was clear, from his perspective, that in view of their experience I had no right, place or mandate to raise concerns or to exercise my calling as a “mouthpiece” (on internal matters).
- Two of the members attacked my concerns about Virkler’s book – How to Hear God’s Voice (although I had not mentioned it) but when I referred them to the graph (See below) in Chapter 3 (page 85) (showing someone in a self induced altered state of alpha consciousness – and open to the world of spirits) it was clear that they had not “done their homework” and they appeared to be confused. Neither of them were able to provide a Biblical basis for the mystic meditation methods or the biofeedback techniques advocated by Virkler
I was told that (if I remained in the church) I could no longer bring words to the pastor and if we did leave the church we should leave quietly. I was warned by one of the members that I might die if I did not leave quietly!
I realised that I could not remain true to myself or my calling and remain and we resigned from the church on 28th October 2009

Being in Christ
On two Sundays in a row (11th and 18th Oct 2009) the pastor of the church we were attending was trying to persuade the congregation to participate with London Citizens (a coalition of faith (including Muslims & Roman Catholics) and non-faith organisations involved in social action). He expressed sadness about the way we viewed Roman Catholics and Muslims, but he did not add any warning or caveats. (When he had first asked me to participate with LC I had prayed about it and the Lord had said to me “right issues but wrong forum” and raised questions for me about being unequally yoked).
I wrote to the pastor expressing my concern about the questionable alignments he was asking the congregation to make. He responded by saying that if I had attended London Citizens he was sure “I would recognize Christ IN the midst of a gathering made up of believers, unbelievers and everything in between …. and recognize Christ IN friend and foe”
I responded by quoting the following scriptures (Mat 18:20, Rev 3:20 and 2 Cor 5:17) which provide (for me) the basis for being “in Christ” and suggested that his take had more resonance with a “New Age” Christ and the views of some RC mystics.
He came round to see me and was very upset that I had predicated my views (and challenged his views) on the basis of Scripture. Because he was unable to bring me round to his views of LC by persuasion he began to question if my views were predicated on some psycho-emotional condition he imagined I was suffering from. He asked me if his wife had seen me “about my emotional problems”! He then stormed out.
(In reality the Lord had asked me to use less nuanced language and my concerns had no psycho-emotional basis but were expressed out of obedience to the Lord – I was being a mouthpiece)

Discussed Time-Out with Leadership
Our reason for Time-Out
We realised that although there were many reasons why we loved our church and were fully supportive of the overall vision there were a number of initiatives introduced over the last four years that we struggled to support. We very nearly left at the same time as some others, but one of the reasons we remained was the need for mission support. Over the summer we began to question if we should belong to a church mostly because of mission support. We are still asking that question.
The Initiatives that concerned us
- Teaching (Wild at Heart, Purpose Driven Life, Hearing from God, Spiritual Formation)
- Wild at Heart (Rites of Passage)
- IHOP – Bickle
- London Citizens
- The Guardian of the Community of Aiden and Hilda
- Membership mode
- Governance mode
- An emphasis on relational synergy (at the expense of pastoral care)
Time-Out
One of the main lessons we have learned from time-out (so far) is that we should follow God’s road-map in terms of returning to High Asia. (not our road map or the church/mission road map). I think it behoves us all to seek God for his road map. God has always provided the specific location and specific mandate when I need it. He did not give me a specific mandate for Jumla until I was in Nepal. I have spent much of the last 10 years spying out the land and completed a PhD on the people so I am not sure what purpose a recci would serve. Although conceptually bringing the whole church on board is quite visionary I am not sure how practical it is. I found that every time I went overseas (for 3 years at a time) the composition and membership had changed dramatically.
Mandate
I did provide a general mandate several months ago and I have reviewed my Journal over the last few days. I do believe the Lord has called me to be a “warrior and a mouthpiece” and prepare the way for the gospel. “Warrior” suggests spiritual warfare (and mapping) and “mouthpiece” suggests prophetic watching insight and speaking. “Without prophetic insight the people perish”. Several people have also mentioned “teacher” to me! (one was yesterday)
We asked church leadership if we could take time-out of church activities to seek his face but we were not released

Time-Out
For the last week we have prayed about the “navigational aids” the Lord gave us. We believe that
The map represents Gods Road map for us (we need to jointly seek the mind of the Lord for his road map)
The compass represents the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit
The torch represents both the word (a light unto our path) and revelation
The whistle represents prayers for help and prophetic warnings
This week we plan to review the guidance, promises and vision the Lord has given us
Please pray with us as we seek his face
Posted in Uncategorized
How to Take Time-Out
The Lord gave us two pictures
The first one was of navigational aids (map, compass, whistle, torch)
The second was of an eagle (looking forward and back)
We believe the Lord wants us to break up our “time-out” into three stages
- Navigational aids – we need more insight and revelation into the significance of each navigational aid
- A review of our past guidance and promises
- A prophetic looking forward

Need for Time-Out
We discussed, with friends, the challenges of the last two years and our hopes for the future
They felt we needed to take time-out and seek God before going on and they had:-
1) a picture of J writing a tome about people groups and
of “going north”
2) a picture of S weaving a basket, beyond the foundational level
We need to pray into the pictures to gain more understanding

The Dangers of Mystic Spirituality
The Lord gave me two pictures one word and one scripture
Pictures
- A large river with a tiny polluted stream joining it
- A mill race with an open grill/trash rack*
* The head race of a water mill usually includes a sediment trap and a grill/trash rash. The latter is a structural device used to prevent debris from entering a mill race or other hydraulic structure
Word: “purity (doctrinal)
Scripture: Gal 5:9 “A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough”

You have “broad shoulders”
General discussion and waited on Lord
- serenity
- The Lord lifts up the humble
- [picture] A picture of you trudging through sand (hard work) with a heavy backpack on your back – determined to get there – sense of isolation
- Verses about cisterns (Jer 2:13, Prov 5:15, 2 Kings 18:31-32 and 19:4)
Advice
- Keep short accounts with own attitudes
- In trying to hear the Lord need to take authority and bind the spirits of deception
- In discussion with leadership bind anything that might prevent revelation
- Self-checking: Is my relationship with the Lord more important than my message
“you have broad shoulders and there is quite a lot you can do”

Doctrinal Concerns
In late 2006/early 2007 following on from PhD research into the Illuminati I began to notice recurring patterns in the literature that many churches (including ours) were studying. My concerns were informed by studies I conducted into
- Neo-evangelicalism
- The Emerging Church Movement (ECM) & the poor
- “Wild at Heart” by John Eldredge
- Promise Keepers (PK)
- The “System of the Beast” by Martha Lucia
I began to uncover a distinct agenda within the ECM and PK that resonated with the methods used by the Illuminati to control the “four corners of power”[1] (political, economic, theological, intellectual) that were predicated on
- Gnosticism (personal spiritual evolution based on universal consciousness)
- Mysticism[2]
- Inter-spirituality (the combining of the worlds religions)[3]
- Diaprax (achieving consensus among the body rather than using God’s word)
- Mass compliance/holism/assimilation strategies
I began to raise concerns initially about Wild at Heart because I knew John Eldredge was part of the ECM and that his second book included the title of a Promise Keepers publication – The masculine Journey.
At the time I did not think that Rick Warren shared a similar agenda although I did know that many of the pastors referred to on his website were part of ECM and that some (Robert Schuller) were Freemasons. The Purpose Driven Life is so well nuanced that the New Age/New Theology sub-text appears to be harmless.
In Mid-July 2008 two Christian friends approached me with very similar concerns about the same UK house church group. They were both worried about the “intolerance shown by leadership to non-compliance”.
These events occurred two days apart and I felt prompted by the Lord to explore “intolerance by leadership to non-compliance”. I was looking for anecdotal evidence of its occurrence within a house church group in the UK and was shocked when I was repeatedly referred to the Purpose Driven Church Paradigm (PDCP) popularised by Rick Warren in “The Purpose Driven Church” and “The Purpose Driven Life”.
When I explored non-compliance I was led to a number of critiques[4] of the PDCP including “Spirit-Led or Purpose-Driven” by Berit Kjos. Chapter 4 is entitled “Dealing with Resisters” and is a manual for dealing with resisters and those who do not comply. Chapter 3 is entitled “Small Groups and the Dialectic Process”, which is a manual for ensuring consensus within small groups.
I also came across[5] the concentric circles used to model levels of commitment and assimilation modified by our church – I don’t think we were ever told its source
I had no idea until very recently that Peter Drucker not only mentored Rick Warren but helped him model the Purpose Driven Church Paradigm. Drucker who died in 2005 is best known as a guru of management based on General Systems Theory. He was a “muted Episcopalian”, who was influenced by German mysticism, Zen Buddhism, futurism[6], holism[7] and the existential philosophies of Soren Kierkegaard[8]
Francis Schaeffer warned evangelicals[9] 30 years ago that the philosophies[10] of Soren Kierkegaard were permeating liberal Protestant churches and encroaching upon evangelicalism. Schaeffer argued that as a result we would adopt a new theology of “manipulated synthesized mysticism” such as that found in purpose-driven theology[11] to fill the void. In the new theology use is made of certain religious words which have a connotation of meaning to those who hear them. Real communication is not in fact established, but an illusion of communication is given by employing words rich in connotations[12]. The phrase “Jesus Christ” when separated from history and scriptural content can easily be used to trigger actions and behaviour contrary to the teachings of Christ. We need to prepare ourselves against such manipulated semantic mysticism[13]
It would appear[14] that both the Emerging Church Movement and the Purpose Driven Church Paradigm are similarly characterized and are paving the way to the apostate church instigated by the Illuminati. There is compelling evidence for this as Rick Warren is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR)[15] and Oxford Analytica[16], which are Illuminati /Masonic organisations[17]. Several people have asked me to confirm his interest and membership of CFR
Warren’s interest in the Council on Foreign Relations is not new. According to a CFR Annual Report [18] he attended New York meetings in 2006 and was, in fact, an important part of the program.
His membership of CFR was initially more ambiguous and all I can do is quote a reporter (Joe Farah) from World Net News.
“It was in the context of our debate over Warren’s characterization of Syria as a “moderate” country that provides religious freedom to Christians that I suggested the media’s favourite mega-pastor should have sought counsel from someone like me – a Christian journalist of Syrian and Lebanese heritage who has covered and analyzed the Middle East for the last 25 years.
Warren explained, somewhat condescendingly, that he had counselled with the National Security Council and the White House, as well as the State Department, before his little pilgrimage to Damascus.
”In fact,” Warren added, ”as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Oxford Analytica, I might know as much about the Middle East as you.”
I hadn’t asked about the CFR. I didn’t use thumbscrews to pry this information out of him. He volunteered this bombshell in a written communication”[19].
Later Saddleback church denied[20] to Joe Farah that Rick was a member of either organisation and they removed a video about Syria from their website.
Later still Warren confirmed[21] he is a member of the CFR. He said the organization “wanted more evangelicals” and he answered the call because Jesus calls believers to be salt and light in the world. He said his volunteer aide who answered e-mails on his behalf was mistaken.
In reality having temporarily failed to usher in its new global order by military force, the Illuminati has now decided to unleash a far greater power in pursuit of its goals, namely : “Global Spirituality” or universal consciousness. To achieve this, the Illuminati’s premier political and economic organ, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), has elevated to membership two key operatives, two men who are at the helm of America’s most influential Christian evangelical groups. I refer to Pastor Rick Warren, Saddleback Community Church in California, and Dr. Richard Land, reigning religious potentate of the massive Southern Baptist Convention[22].
I want to be part of a spirit-led church rather than a purpose-driven church that is paving the way to the apostate church predicated on a universal consciousness.
{Obama has asked Rick Warren to conduct his inauguration on 20th Jan. Obama is 33 deg Freemason (Prince Hall & Martinist Lodges) and a member of CFR. Obama like Bush has surrounded himself by CFR members}

Leadership Concerns
Let me begin by reiterating and expanding on the concerns I expressed on the 6th Nov 2008 when I was asked (jokingly) in a cell group if I was leaving the church.
I responded by saying that there had been a number of times over the last two years when we had considered leaving and I shared (with others) concerns about the nature & character of leadership. On a personal level we were very disappointed that leadership did not always engage with us where we are at (emotionally, pastorally, theologically, ministerially or in our guidance).
Not withstanding these concerns I went on to say that there was no such thing as the perfect church and we should continue to pray for and support leadership until such time as we can no longer support the aims, vision (and ethos) of the church. (Floyd McClung comments that at such times it is better to move on than cause a division).
Most of our concerns began when the church became independent and adopted a new paradigm characterised by what I now know as the PDC model that included concentric “circles of commitment”[1] and assimilation. I did mention these concerns at the time, and I did say that people would leave. I am not sure to what extent the new paradigm adopted was based on the PDC model (which is reported to be more controlling and manipulative) and the extent to which it formed the basis of our concerns.
We were also disappointed that when we did bring concerns to leadership there was no sense that leadership had sought the mind of God in relation to the concerns. If leadership did seek the mind of God this was not communicated to us.
Some of our concerns
- My emotional overload – no substantive response
- My wife’s work at the clinic – stress-related muscular spasms
- The Wei Wei incident – emotionally & psychologically bruised
- London Citizens – did you receive a mandate from the Lord
- Wild at Heart/Promise Keepers/ECM – only a descriptive response
- Purpose Driven Life/Wild at Heart – did you receive a mandate from God

Purpose Driven pathway to the apostate church?
In Mid-July 2008 two Christian friends approached me with very similar concerns about the same house church group. They were both worried about the intolerance shown by leadership to non-compliance. The former friend has been working in a para-church organisation. He felt belittled and undervalued because the para-church organisation was not part of the house church movement to which he belonged. The latter friend was counselling some Polish Christian friends who had been excommunicated from their church for warning leadership about some Roman Catholics they were involved with.
These events occurred two days apart and I felt prompted by the Lord to explore “intolerance by leadership to non-compliance”. I was looking for anecdotal evidence of its occurrence within a house church group in the UK and was shocked when I was repeatedly referred to the Purpose Driven Church Paradigm (PDCP) popularised by Rick Warren in “The Purpose Driven Life”.
Some months ago I expressed my concern that negative elements of the Emerging Church movement (ECM) were having an influence in the UK church predicated on a paradigm characterised by
- Gnosticism
- Mysticism
- Inter-spirituality
- Diaprax[1] – achieving consensus among the body (rather than using Gods Word)
- Pelagianism
At the time I did not think that Rick Warren shared a similar paradigm although I did know that many of the pastors referred to on his website were part of the ECM. The Purpose Driven Life is so well nuanced that the “New Age” sub-text appeared to be harmless.
When I explored non-compliance I was led to a number of critiques[2] of the PDCP including “Spirit-Led or Purpose-Driven” by Berit Kjos. Chapter 4 is entitled “Dealing with Resisters” and is a manual (based on the sub-text of PDL) for dealing with resisters and those who do not comply. Chapter 3 is entitled “Small Groups and the Dialectic Process”, which is a manual (based on the sub-text of PDL) for ensuring consensus within small groups.
I had no idea until very recently that Rick Warren’s mentor was Peter Drucker and the PDCP was largely predicated on systems theory. Drucker is not a Christian and is best known as a guru of General Systems Theory.
Systems Theory sees our world in terms of ‘systems’, where each system is a ‘whole’ that is more than the sum of its parts, but also itself a ‘part’ of larger systems. It is predicated on an esoteric belief system that merges Darwinism and eastern mysticism that is commonly describes as ‘New Age’ or the Gaia Hypothesis. It contends that man is moving to the next level of evolution, but in order to reach this plateau, mankind must ascribe to a common, universal consciousness, or belief system.
It would appear[3] that both the Emerging Church Movement and the Purpose Driven Church Paradigm are similarly characterized and are paving the way to the apostate church instigated by the Illuminati. There is compelling evidence for this as Rick Warren is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations[4] and Oxford Analytica[5], which are Illuminati /Masonic organisations.
I want to belong to a Spirit-Led and Biblically grounded Church not an apostate one!
[1] Diaprax, a word coined by Dean Gotcher, essentially brings together people of diverse and often opposing backgrounds, worldviews and belief systems in the hope that they will forfeit their own values, traditions and absolutes for the emotional rewards of group acceptance.

Questionable Spirituality
In 2008 the church we were attending took on a new “Council of Reference” and we had misgivings about one individual whose approach to “reinvigorated spirituality” appeared to be questionable.
In early 2009 we were asked to sow into his ministry and I raised my concerns with the pastor
The pastor asked me why I had reservations and so I sought the Lord and he gave me the words “Laodicean” and “harlot”. I went back to the Lord for greater understanding and believe that in his attempt to “reinvigorate spirituality” he has gone after/exposed himself to other spirits. Laodicean I believe is synonymous with the apostate church

Church Leadership
Following the departure of two leaders from our old church we discussed the nature and character of church leadership pre and post sabbatical. The following points were noted
- The New Leadership team was over represented by Caucasians
- Women in leadership positions were sometimes patronising and paternalistic in their dealings with younger women (and they did not model Titus 2:3-5)
- One women in the worship team felt frightened of senior leadership
- Leadership did not always engage with us where we are at (emotionally, pastorally, theologically, ministerially or in our guidance)

Leaders Resign from Church
On the 6th Nov 2008 a couple announced their resignation from church leadership. They could no longer remain because:-
- Of the nature and character of senior leadership post-sabbatical
- Of the lack of “processing” that had been allowed within the leadership team with reference to approval and implementation of new changes
- Senior leadership had moved from a relational model to a hierarchical (top-down end-state) model
- During a recent service, they had led, they were totally undermined and belittled by senior leadership
I was asked (jokingly) if I was leaving the church, as well. I responded by saying that there had been a number of times in the past two years we had considered it and I shared the concerns of many about the nature and character of leadership, since the church went independent. I went on to say that there was no such thing as the perfect church and we would continue to pray for and support leadership until such time as we could no longer support the aims, vision and ethos of the church (Floyd McClung comments that at such times it is better to move on than cause a division).

We have the mind of Christ
! Cor 2: 6-16
We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. 14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for,
“Who has known the mind of the Lord
so as to instruct him?”
But we have the mind of Christ.

Moldova Withdrawal
When I first thought about the Moldova trip I was interested because I had visited the USSR in 1980 and thought it might be a good opportunity for us to “do mission” before we go to High Asia. I knew also I would enjoy researching a new country.
As time progressed, however we began to realise that with our existing commitments we were already “running on empty” and we began to consider the wisdom of continuing with Moldova (neither of us go into things in a half hearted manner)
In the last six months I have formally written to church Leadership asking them to “cut us some slack”, given our present circumstances, for “a season”.
Some of the reasons for this.
- I have a sister who has a brain tumour who we have nearly lost once
- I have a 90 year-old mother with high blood pressure who was selling her house and moving to a care home
- I have a sister who is going through a very messy separation
- My wife was diagnosed with stress related muscular spasms due to her work load
- I have become a company director
I have seen a major change in my wife in the last six months. She has gone from a passionate follower of the Lord Jesus to a nominal believer who has questioned her faith at times.
At this present moment in time both of us need time and space so we can be refreshed and restored spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. For both of us that means time “away” with the Lord. I was reminded the other day that the Lord needed to go away from his disciples and the crowds at times. We both need “inner” resourcing and need to schedule that into our diaries.
Although my mother has now moved and my wife is working part-time most of my other commitments are still in place and we need more time and more understanding to be fully restored. I think it will take several months
In view of this we have decided to withdraw from the Moldova trip.

The Purpose Driven Life: A Critique
When I first read The Purpose Driven Life I was disappointed, because it did not “push any buttons” but after the second and third reading I realised it was very cleverly nuanced and the sub-text “rang bells”. It was predicated on a new age gospel of mysticism and pantheism informed by eisegesis[1], plagiarism[2], and the works of new age gurus and mystics leading to “spiritual transformation” using a communitarian[3] agenda.
We do not find the full gospel in Purpose Driven Life. Warren has hidden (a) the whole reason Christ had to come and die; (b) why we must repent and be saved; (c) the unseen world and spiritual warfare (d) the gifts of prophecy and discernment (e) the Biblical portrayal of God so we can know Him and obey him (instead of thinking of him as only a god of love who simply wants to be pleased with us or glorified by us).
Warren uses 15 different versions of the Bible (mostly paraphrases) in Purpose Driven Life to argue for a new age gospel predicated on mysticism[4], pantheism/ holism[5], interspirituality and communitarianism[6]. He draws heavily on the works of Robert Schuller (who he plagiarises) new age gurus[7], Catholic mystics[8] and Peter Drucker[9], who mentored Warren.
Warren quotes from the The New Century Bible on page 88 of Purpose Driven Life which states, “There is one God and Father of everything. He rules everything and is everywhere and is in everything “[10]. Warren’s choice of a Children’s Bible suggests that he believes that God is “in” everything (rather than “above all” and “in you all”[11] (i.e. by His Spirit in all believers)). The version Warren has selected may be in simple language but it communicates pantheism, and pantheism directly contradicts the biblical teaching that God is separate from His creation.
All the Roman Catholic mystics Warren refers to in Purpose Driven Life appear to have engaged in contemplative prayer with the aim of achieving “union with God” and for Theresa of Avila this led to an ecstatic state and at times to levitation[12]. Some of the side effects they experienced appear to be more consistent with seducing spirits than “union with God”. Brother Lawrence, who provided Warren with the inspiration for “breath prayers”[13], used to “dance violently like a madman“. John of the Cross experienced mysticism of a homoerotic nature, described in “dark night of the soul”[14] and Theresa of Avila and Madam Guyon’s mysticism has been described[15] as “erotic bride mysticism”. Guyon’s mystic experience was accompanied by demonic attack and poltergeist activity[16]. It is clear that Warren believes that we can only gain spiritual maturity (or spiritual formation) if we engage in contemplative prayer and enter the inner silence of alpha consciousness[17]. This is very dangerous and provides access for deceiving or seducing spirits.
Contemplative prayer and holism may only appear in the sub-text of Purpose Driven Life but they lead inexorably to a mystic connection between all contemplative traditions and to interspirituality and ecumenicalism. This is articulated by Warren in his global peace plan. He states “Who’s the man of peace in any village – or it might be a woman of peace – who has the most respect, they’re open and they’re influential? They don’t have to be a Christian. In fact, they could be a Muslim, but they’re open and they’re influential and you work with them to attack the five giants. And that’s going to bring the second Reformation.”[18]
Peter Drucker has had a major influence on Warren’s new age gospel especially the emphasis on systems-based communitarianism[19], holism[20] and interspirituality which have become part of the Purpose Driven paradigm.
Communitarianism is a worldview that man is only complete as part of a viable “organism” or organisation (a view that resonates with pantheism, holism and systems theory). It is a common thread running through both Drucker’s worldview and the New Age Movement and its purpose and objective is to transform all philosophical and religious thought to what they call the “Mass Mind”, and to give it power over individual thought. Consensus is the favored means by which this will be achieved, and when it is complete, the Mass Mind will rule the activities of every individual, forcing him into compliance with communitarian ideals.
I think Warren’s statement on page 131 of Purpose Driven Life that “each part gets its meaning from the body” illustrates communitarianism in a church context. Yes, God wants us to be one with Himself and with each other: one family in Christ, all led by the Holy Spirit according to God’s perfect plan. But when God’s guidelines for His Body of believers are placed into the context of a secular management system and when each member is told to find its “meaning” or purpose in the collective “body” rather than in Jesus Christ, the Head of His body, the Biblical ideal becomes little more than a tool to conform people to an unbiblical process. There is evidence that the latter approach is being applied.in his “group-think” approach to church.
Warren uses well nuanced language and metaphors yet he models an attitude that breeds intolerance and judgment toward individuals who violate his politically correct guidelines concerning unity and relational synergy. He equates sincere Christians who question the adoption of the world’s methodology with germs and disease within the body. And he calls on the church leadership to “remove growth-restricting diseases and barriers so that natural, normal growth can occur” (Purpose Driven Church page 16)
In 2006 Rick Warren was recruited by the Committee of Foreign Relations[21], a globally influential platform for the Illuminati. There are those[22] who believe that he has become an agent of the New World Order and he is paving the way for the apostate church. This would certainly explain the success of The Purpose Driven Life
[1] Eisegesis is the process of misinterpreting a text in such a way that it introduces one’s own ideas, reading into the text.

Right Issues but Wrong Forum
I was asked to represent our old church on London Citizens (a faith and non faith social action group). I studied the literature and prayed about involvement. I felt quite strongly that the Lord was saying to me “right issues but wrong forum”. Do not get me wrong I believe that Christians need to speak out in Gods name about social injustice in a prophetic way but I did not feel that, for me, London Citizens was the right forum. I repeatedly told the church leadership that they needed to seek a mandate for the churches involvement
In addition to the guidance I received we had the following questions about London’s Citizens which the church failed to address
- In whose name were we engaging in social action (Jesus, Allah, Secular Humanism)
- Were we being “unequally yoked” with unbelievers
- Isn’t the LC social action predicated on democracy (the rule of the people by the people for the people)
- Did the church have a specific mandate from the Lord to participate in LC
I remained true to my guidance and declined any involvement with LC

An Uncanny Event
I was on my to Loughborough University and I stopped off at Toddington Services on the M1 for a “pit stop”. As I got out of the car I was approached (in the car park) by an Italian clothing salesman, who presented me with a range of free Amani clothing. He kept saying that there was no catch. He insisted that they were left over “samples” and he was on his way to East Midlands airport. At this point there was a large crunch and a small truck had managed to re-landscape my car. When I arrived in Loughborough I was recounting my eventful journey to my supervisors. One of them, rather uncharacteristically stated that perhaps “two leylines crossed at Toddington”. If I had been quicker on the uptake I would have realized that the word Todd (or Dod or Toot) is closely connected with leylines. I knew that the St Mary and St Michael alignment crossed the M1, but I did not think it came as far north as Toddington. I easily found the route of the St Mary leyline just north of Luton. I could not find an accurate map showing the St Michael leyline. I drew a line through the St Michael’s churches either side of the M1 and the line passed right through Toddington.
[Note – I became interested in leylines because a number pass through my home town and I became interested in their impact on the spiritual climate. Irrespective of what they represent historically their ritual use today potentially has significance]

Going Independent
During mid 2003 the church we were going to decided to go independent and the nature of leadership changed and the membership bar was raised
The congregation were invited to discuss the changes and I stated that not only would people leave but the membership commitments could only be maintained through coercion and manipulation.
The new leadership model (although it was not presented as such) was predicated on the Purpose Driven Church 5-ringed model of assimilation, consensus building and “relational” synergy.
I was also concerned that at the same time the pastor (who had an RC background) began to be mentored by a Benedictine monk. Benedictines often embrace mystic meditative spirituality* (based on self-induced altered states of consciousness) giving free (and uncritical) access to the world of spirits leading to universalism and pantheism. A bit like a PC with no firewall.
Although I did express my concerns about leadership and membership I was not given a mandate to warn the pastor about his choice of mentor.
* On the basis of Dr Andrew Newberg’s neuro-spiritual research at the University of Pennsylvania.during mystic meditation our analytical and critical faculties are suspended and the brain patterns are identical between Tibetan Buddhist and Benedictine monks/nuns The brain patterns differ from Christians speaking in tongues, who are able to engage fully with the Holy Spirit and their analytical and critical faculties |
This was exacerbated by the literature we were encouraged to study which was all predicated on emerging church mystic spirituality.

The Cyrus Factor
In early March , during the evening service the Lord showing me his very deep sorrow for the state of our nation vis-a-vis other nations, and that we not only needed to humble ourselves but to be reconciled with all those people groups we have wronged. I prayed and fasted to gain some understanding of what God was saying, which led me on to a new perspective over the Iraq war. I had been very against the war, and almost went on the anti-war march, but as I meditated on a number of pro-war prophetic words I felt that God was planning to use USA/UK as a “Cyrus” to prevent a pre-emptive strike against Israel. This does not let UK or USA off the hook, and if God is using us as a Cyrus against Iraq, it is not because the war is “just” or we are better, more righteous, or less evil. He is chastening the UK/USA and he will judge us if we do not humble ourselves and intercede.

Moving to Fresh Pastures
After several months of struggling to identify with the ethos and vision of the church we were attending we sought the Lord for a mandate to move on. I think it is Floyd McClung who says that if you cannot support the vision of the church you are in, it is better to move on than cause a division. Finally in Sept the Lord spoke to us in terms of “moving on to fresh pastures” and we tendered our resignation from membership

“sleep paralysis”? I don’t think so!
In 1996 I was involved in a snow disaster in Eastern Tibet and was one of the few foreigners given permission to dispense aid (clothes food and medicine) on the ground. It was a very remote area and as far as we knew we were the first Christians to visit the area. On our first night there, I awoke in terror because; I had been rendered mute and paralyzed, there was a weight on my chest and I was being choked. I was eventually able to pray and bind the enemy and the attack eventually subsided
* Known as the Yalong downstream and the Mekong further downstream
The following day everyone was ill, we almost lost a truck on a suspension bridge and the engine of our 4WD died at night in the middle of nowhere. Given all that had happened I knew we were under attack and we used the authority and weapons of warfare to deal with the enemy (and we had no more problems with sleep, health or vehicles). Today there is an open door!
Going through the ice and breaking down
When I asked the local indigenous Tibetan’s about my nocturnal attack they told me it was caused by a demon or the result of a shamanic curse. The Tibetans call this phenomenon a “crushing spirit” (grib-gnon-gyi-gdon), the Chinese call it a “choking spirit” (gui ya shen), the Nepalese call it “demonic pressure” (aithan paryo), and the Mongolians “black pressure” (kara darahu).
I was gob-smacked to read in a psychology textbook that my experience was described as “sleep paralysis” and was apparently caused by a “neurological short-circuit between the brain and the body”!. The book ignored or disregarded any form of demonic attack. I have not been able to find a Christian psychology textbook that explains my experience from a Biblical perspective.
(Later I heard of another Christian pioneer in NW Nepal who had a similar attack)

I am now training you to fight, for I’ve not called you as a brawler or street fighter but as it were one trained under the Queen’s rules. I will train you when to advance and when to retreat, when to tenaciously stand and when to seek me for a new strategy. I will teach you the ebb and flow of the battle and most important that my spirit shall give you victory. You shall not fight in your own strength but the power of the spirit. In Him, you will be victorious. Now I call you to my counsel chamber and give you strategy and instructions for this semester. This week I shall begin to unfold some of my plans for you

Accepting ritual objects as gifts
One day a friend phoned up. He asked me to go to his house to pray because within the previous month.
- His children had started having nightmares
- His Quiet Times were dead
- Worship never took off
I sensed he had brought something into his apartment. I asked him and he left the room returning with an object wrapped up in a kha(b)tag(s) (silk scarf). The friend had just returned from a trip and had been given the object by the school where he had been teaching. To my horror he unwrapped a copper kang-gling (or trumpet) used by monks to exorcise demons.
Clearly the trumpet had been dedicated to some divinity and had become spatially occupied by a spirit. It was no wonder that when my friend brought it into his apartment it impacted negatively his Christian life.
We not only dealt with the spirit occupying the trumpet but we destroyed the trumpet with a hammer (unlike some kanglings it was made of soft copper)
During my life in High Asia I have accepted a number of gifts with ritual associations, which I have subsequently destroyed.

A counterpoint to Younghusband
“You are to act as a counterpoint to Francis Younghusband by means of identificational repentance and by releasing the opposite spirit that characterised his expeditionary forces invasion of Tibet (1903)” (not verbatim).
Sir Francis Edward Younghusband (1863-1942) was a British explorer, army officer, military-political officer, and foreign correspondent born in India who led expeditions into Manchuria, Kashgar, and Tibet. He three times tried and failed to scale Mt. Everest and journeyed from China to India, crossing the Gobi desert and the Mustagh Pass (5,791 m) of the Karakoram mountain range in modern day Pakistan. Convinced of Russian designs on British interests in India, Younghusband proactively engaged in the nineteenth century spying and conflict over Central Asia between the British and the Russians known as the Great Game.
During the invasion of Tibet (1903) British soldiers mowed down the Tibetans with machine guns as they fled. Lieutenant Arthur Hadow, commander of the Maxim gun detachment wrote*
“I got so sick of the slaughter that I ceased fire, though the general’s order was to make as big a bag as possible,”
and in a letter to his father he wrote
“I hope I shall never again have to shoot down men walking away.”

I dub thee Dorjay…….Nima
I was given the Tibetan name Dorjay, which means thunderbolt (or indomitable), in recognition of my calling as a mouthpiece and warrior.
In Tibetan culture Dorjay (or Dorje) conceptually represents firmness of spirit and spiritual power. It is symbolised as a sceptre which is used as a weapon and ritual tool (to reveal “truth”) in Tibetan Buddhism
In my case, it was considered to be a re-contexualized term and a conceptual symbol of my calling.
Later my Tibetan teacher added the name Nima, which means sun, because she thought I had a sunny disposition
Names mean something in most cultures. Dorjay refers to my calling and Nima to my disposition
I continued a tradition of hosting prayer for High Asia on Monday and we did pray that doors and windows would open

Go Forward in God’s Confidence
- You are to go forward with confidence in your kit. Confidence means “with faith”. You are to go forward in God’s confidence and not your own….. and then God will restore your smile.
- Remember the parable of the mustard seed: how something so small grew into something large, through faith Mt 13:31-32
- Remember you are the apple of his eye
- John 15 – The Vine – it will produce fruit when it is pruned
- Is 42:6-9 “I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness. “I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols. See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.”

Finding an Open Door
On the basis of
- my call to the “nations”
- past guidance going back to 1987 when I visited Tibet
- pictures of Chinese Flags and gates
I believed that now was the time to begin to try that door
The “powers that be” however suggested I find temporary work in the UK and explore other ways of returning to Nepal. I did visit a number of Conference Centres to see if they needed someone with my experience and I did apply to VSO but no doors opened.
I did suggest, on a number of occasions that we try the China/Tibet door and eventually it was agreed that we explore that option

Bad News
I received a one line fax from Nepal saying “don’t plan to come back” – I was devastated and never did get to the bottom of things.
I was told I had “upset people in the project”. I wrote to the project asking their forgiveness and they responded by saying that they “did not know what I was talking about and were looking forward to my return”. I was told I could not write directly to the project.
Then I was told I had written “upsetting letters while I was in UK”. I forwarded copies of all my letters but the offending letter was never identified.
I had stood up for my Nepali counterpart* who was denied a scholarship (which I had supported) and suggested that there were double standards. Others suggested that there was anti-British sentiments in the administration
I think the Lord allowed this because it was time to move on
* Others recognized his potential and he is currently completing a PhD

Return to UK
This was quite an eventual return.
Firstly Royal Nepal Airlines decided to go on strike and I had to re-schedule a flight with Аэрофлот via Moscow a day later.
Secondly my Аэрофлот flight was scheduled to leave Kathmandu the day the ground war in Iraq started.
A colleague said to me “I am glad you are an old hand at this”!
When I arrived at Kathmandu International airport the departure board was still showing that the flight stopped off at Dubai. I was not at all sure that I wanted to stop off at Dubai in the middle of a ground war! I was assured we were going via Tashkent but I would have hours to kill in Moscow.
There was little evident of glasnost or perestroika at Moscow International airport and the only way to redeem meal vouchers was to completely fill each table and sit next to complete strangers!

Light Overcomes Darkness
[from JB]
“Those that are with us are more than those that are against us” (2 Kings 6:16)
First of all (in the spirit) I was looking around the hill with the shrine you prayed at and the message seemed to be “its not there any more , its gone – not physically gone but spiritually- the power of it is destroyed and gone” …..
Then the main street of Jumla came to mind. I could “see” the cobblestone streets with shops and offices along both sides, and standing on both sides of the street, almost shoulder to shoulder was a whole detachment of heavenly warriors, bright and shining, some standing with swords raised, some standing alert and ready, all ready for battle – defensive and offensive
[Then in my mind I thought “this is the future isn’t it? and the Lord immediately said “No this is now! – my time is not your time – it is now”…]
Then I saw more heavenly warriors on the street that goes out to the airport, in front of the shops and lining the edge of the street … On the opposite side of the town, along the road to the west of the Tundikhel there was another squadron of heavenly warriors. There were also some in the police barracks, the army camp and the village north of the airport
[go to http://nimasjournal.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/jumlabattle.jpg for a larger image]
There was a very tall commander standing across the river in Boragoan, and facing the Bazaar. He appeared to be directing operations. Bolts of flashing light were knocking bricks out of the Buddhist gompa and the walls were being pushed down, brick and stone falling inside when hit by blasts of light. The area around the Chandannath and Bhairavnath temples came under heavenly attack.
Chandannath and Bhairavnath temples
The two large poles were knocked down and fell against the dome, and one of the warriors pierced the dome with his sword. The temples started to crumble as light battled against it
[Again I thought “This must be the future?” and again I was reprimanded and told “No, this is now – put on the full armour of God ..Light has overcome the darkness … the darkness cannot and will not prevail against the light .. wear the full armour of God”]
I was prompted at this point to pray aloud about wearing the armour of God (– the helmet of salvation, the shield of faith, the feet shod with the shoes of the gospel, the loins girded up with the belt of truth, and the breastplate of righteousness). “My people in Jumla should be fully dressed in the armour at all times” .. “We are on the victory side..the shield of faith is to quench the fiery darts of the enemy.. and my armour is sufficient!. Take up the sword of the spirit, the Word of God. The Forces of Light have taken and are holding much ground in Jumla.. They are advancing and we are on the winning side. Light , Life and Truth will win in love”…
I nearly forgot… I imagined or thought about an angel (warrior spirit) standing guard in front of the small temple, near the airport. He had a drawn sword and was preventing any evil entity from entering or exiting the temple. He was definitely on guard and very alert. [I imagined some little wicked demon looking for a place to hide .. it couldn’t return to its usual place because the heavenly guards were too strong and numerous]

I will give you every place you set your feet
During 1990 the fabled but closed Tibetan enclave of Dolpo opened to tourism and I was not going to miss an opportunity. Under the pretext of “following up” on a training course (forests guards and National Park guards) I planned to be one of the first foreigners to visit Dolpo legally.
One of the highest inhabited realms on the planet, Dolpo is also still a stronghold of the pre-Buddhist, shamanistic Bon-po religion as well as Tibetan Buddhism. It is a tough, mountainous region of fortified villages, ‘dzongs’, turquoise lakes, sacred mountains and high passes, susceptible to heavy snows which isolate it from the rest of Nepal for much of the year.
Dolpo was made famous by Peter Matthiessen’s journey, recounted in his book “The Snow Leopard” and more recently by the movie ‘Himalaya’ shot by Eric Valli.
Mauri pass is a major vantage point for viewing peaks to the South and East
Standing at the “gateway” of Dolpo
and it is a “gateway” to Dolpo. Mauri means honey
Kaigaon is situated on a cross roads, westerly to Jumla, north-easterly to Ringmo, south-easterly to Dunai and southerly to Nepalgunj. It has been used as a “base camp” for a number of expeditions in the past. John Tyson used Kaigaon as a base camp for his mapping expedition. His porters took 22 days to walk from Nepalgunj (reported in Himalayan Journal 23 1961)
The villagers in Hurikot tried to persuade me not to try and go over Kagmara Pass but go around the long way. I had to remind them that many of them were called Bahadur which means brave. With Gods help and the “Bahadur spirit” we planned to cross the pass.
We reported to the army cam situated at Toijem. They not only sent a radio message to the Park Headquarters informing them of my arrival but told me I could go to Shey Gompa
We camped at 4400m and got up at first light in order to cross Kagmara La and then spent all day (14 hours) in order to reach Pungmo. Kagmara means dead crow.
We stayed the night in Pungmo with some villagers because we had packed our tent wet and we were tired. During the evening we were introduced to the Bonpo priest of Ringmo Gonpa who was staying in the same house. The following day we travelled on to the National Park Headquarters. The Park Warden told me I could not visit Shey Gompa irrespective of what the army had told me (Officially tourists were not allowed to visit Shey Gompa until 1992). We travelled on and arrived at Ringmo mid afternoon and camped by the Lake.
Ringmo sits on the 30,000-40,000 year old landslide dam that formed Phoksundo Lake (494 ha). South of the dam, the waters of the lake plunge over a 167 meter tall waterfall.
We stayed in Ringmo for a few days and visited the village and the Gompa, where I met again the Bonpo Priest I had met in Pungmo
Ringmo Gompa on the shores of Phoksundo Lake
.We returned to Jumla via Tibrikot and Kaigaon. I stopped off at Naphakhuna and purchased a locally made striped blanket.
Dolpo was a foretaste, for me of the Tibetan World

Feeling Sorry for Myself
I had gone into Kathmandu and suffered from four illness’s one after the other – conjunctivitis – corneal abrasion – flu and a stomach bug
I was lying in bed feeling sorry for myself and asking the Lord why he had allowed it. He gave me the following
Psalm 90:12 (New International Version)
12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
I had always thought of this scripture in terms of wasting time but I realized I had taken on a lot of “worthy” projects that God had not asked me to

Overcoming
Following the teaching I gave on spiritual warfare we were led to pray for a family living close to a second Mother Goddess shrine on the eastern flank of the valley where we lived. We prayed for the family and for their house and sought the Lord if we should do more and what weapons we needed. We received the following word for the Shrine and the area
A shrine to the mother goddess Mai
“You are fighting against the spirit of antichrist, so it’s no use trying to bind it, the only way you will overcome this spirit is by praise and by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ”
One group went and “overcame” at the shrine and another gathered and provided prayer support

Under pressure
The organisation I worked for was allowed to “act in the name and spirit of Jesus Christ” but this presented challenges that sometimes meant we had to “change our profile”. During the summer of 1988 we sought the Lord in terms of our response to the challenges and among other things he gave us the following
A picture of a dam bursting (future blessing?)
A picture of a tower (protection/refuge/watch tower)
Elisha’s servants’ eyes being opened to see the hosts of heaven (protection/discernment)

Things that go bump in the night
A magnitude 6.6 earthquake shook Eastern Nepal on August 21, 1988 at 04:39 hours although I slept right through it
(About 1004 persons died (282 in India and 722 in Nepal) and more than 16,000 injured; casualties were significantly reduced since in the summer time most people sleep outdoors. Significant damage was caused in three distinct regions: the area near the epicenter, and the areas around Munger (India) and Bhaktapur (near Kathmandu in Nepal); this damage pattern due to peculiar geology of the area is exactly similar to that of the 1934 Bihar-Nepal earthquake)
I was reminded of Isaiah 54:10 “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD

Going Home for an “active” Rest
[from Chris]
- A picture of you coming from the heat into the cold (a literal as well as a figurative meaning)
- Amid this big change the Lord wants to remind you that he is the same “yesterday, today and for ever”
- Jesus is the one thing that will not change when you return
- The Lord has things to teach and show you – that is why he is bringing you home
- There will be rest and a place in Him that he wants to show you
- He will still provide for you and meet your needs. He loves and cares for you and sees the trust you have in Him.
[from Steve]
You have something new to do. God can not show you what it is in Nepal. He wants to open your mind to a work that you never thought God would lead you into
[Scriptures]
Exodus 14:14 (New International Version)
14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Exodus 15:26-27 (New International Version)
26 He said, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.” 27 Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there near the water.

Moving up a Level
The Lord gave me a very specific conditional word addressing the background of someone in the project. Because I was only used to word’s of encouragement I sat on it for six months.
When I prayed about it I was led to Rev 2:19 “I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first” but still I sat on it
Eventually I shared my word with the wife of the US military attaché to Nepal (who was visiting Jumla) and her response was that
“Rivers will flow from you like streams in the desert. I will give you the boldness and courage. When you operate in love people will receive it”
I shared my word with the person concerned and it was spot on – the Lord was taking me up to another level

Possessing the Land (1985-1986)
I was asked to share about my experience of “motivational gifts” and intercession and its local application. This led to a weekly prayer meeting which provided a platform for strategic “possession of the land”. Initially this was of a defensive nature but gradually it became more offensive. The strategies (defensive/offensive) the Lord gave us had a major impact on the local people and led to a shift in the spiritual environment and an openness to the gospel

Protection from Black Bears
Himalayan Black Bear (Hagen 2004)
Crossing a wooded mountain pass at dusk I ran into two Himalayan Black Bears at very close range. I was never so scared in all my life
The Lord reminded me
- of David in 1 Samuel 17:34-35 “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it”.
- of a prophetic word/picture about protection I had received at my valedictory service
A lone “figure” (on a mission) appeared out of nowhere, with all the appearance (human form) of a Nepali man. He emanated peace and calm and the bears did not harm us. The “figure” disappeared as quickly as he had appeared
Later I asked the Lord why he had allowed the close encounter with bears. The understanding I received was that
- I had been presumptuous of his protection
- My confidence was in myself
- I had assumed I was just going on a field trip and I had forgotten my mandate from Josh 1:3 “I will give you every place where you set your feet”

Take My Yoke upon you
Matthew 11:28-30 (New International Version – UK)
28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Isaiah 40:28-31 (New International Version – UK)
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no-one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Galatians 5:1 (New International Version – UK)
1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
[from Sa P]
Confirmation re yokes – no other yokes
A cloud over the people of wickedness but on Mount Zion his hand rests and there he will remove the cloud of darkness that covers his dear people. we need to continually dwell on Mount Zion
[from Elz]
Philippians 4:6-7 (New International Version – UK)
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus

Crossing the Himalaya
While I was staying in Surkhet Distict on the morning I left to walk over the Himalaya to Jumla (6 days walk) the Lord gave me the following Scriptures
Psalm 91:9-14 (New International Version – UK)
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling— even the LORD, who is my refuge—
10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 Because he loves me, says the LORD, I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
Exodus 23:20 (New International Version – UK)
20 See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.
Isaiah 43:2 (New International Version – UK)
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
But I had no idea how apposite these scriptures were
I had hardly left the house I was living in and I nearly stood on a snake (that was in the middle of eating a frog
The river I had to cross had risen over night. I got half way across and started to lose my footing in the very strong current. I had to claim the scriptures I had received and remarkably I was “supported” to the far bank. My porter and other villagers were stranded on one side and I on the other. It would take them four hours to reach me if they used the nearest bridge and we would arrive at Surkhet town after dark. I claimed the scriptures again and suddenly a very tall strong “villager” appeared and helped my porter and the villagers across. Then he “disappeared”!
After three day I had to cross the Himalaya via the Mabuchin pass (4000m) and the path was narrow, slippery and precipitous and I was reminded of the scriptures I had been given
I arrived in Jumla safely but realised the importance of angels in our daily lives

I will give you every place
Joshua 1:3-9 (New International Version)
3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. 5 No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Jumla Mandate
While I was in Kathmandu I sought the Lord for a mandate to work in Jumla. He gave me the following:-
Numbers 13:17-20 (New International Version)
17 …Go .. into the hill country. 18 See what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many. 19 What kind of land do they live in? Is it good or bad? What kind of towns do they live in? Are they unwalled or fortified? 20 How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor? Are there trees in it or not?

7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of gladness
Psalm 133:2 (New International Version – UK)
2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down upon the collar of his robes.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Valedictory
[from Mar.]
I do believe that the Lord wants to encourage you, that he has called you, he will equip you and that you are his man in this situation and that therefore you can speak under the authority of Jesus and that you have that authority in every situation. You need never hold back for fear that perhaps you are the second rate person there, that you are the one that God wants to be there and that you can step boldly into any situation with the confidence that God is with you and God has gone before you and that you have his authority
[from Cl]
You are his ambassador, just as an ambassador is sent to a country the ambassador has no power in himself but only the power of the King he represents. So you have the power of the Lord… The God of everything, you are his ambassador, you have his power
[from Elz]
I believe that God would say to you that he will uproot you and transplant you and he will give you someone to take to yourself
Psalm 1: 1 – 3 (New International Version – UK)
1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
[from Rb]
I believe the Lord would say this to you – My son, my son, my valiant warrior, yes you are my valiant warrior, although your heart may fear at those words, although you may doubt that you can be a valiant warrior, in my eyes you are my valiant warrior for I have equipped you therefore hasten into the armoury and take that which is my armour, take those which are my weapons and take them and go knowing that I am with you for I want to assure you my son for as things press themselves against you, as troubles come to you that by my power I will deflect them, and they shall not come near and harm you, when it seems as though some things will break through to touch you, you are not to say in your heart where is my God for you’re to know that your God holds you and loves you and is shaping you and building you into the person he wants you to be. So put your full trust in me and get into the armoury and know that I see you as a valiant warrior, not in your own strength but in the strength of you God. Stand complete, stand upright, knowing how I look at you.
[from Ls]
(a picture) Confirmation of you standing on a hand, and as you stood there with your eyes heavenward there was another hand that moved around you, as a protection, as a shield and every time anything came near you that hand moved around you and protected you. I believe that was the hand of God

I will give you the Key
My son, Do not fear for I am going before you, for I am sending you to a land where my people are harassed and persecuted, many are imprisoned on account of my name. Do not be discouraged or fear what men might say for I will be your shield and rock. Many doors are closed to my people but I will give you the key to open up in order that my people may be released. Therefore take heed of my word and I will bless you in all that you do. Do not be afraid for I am the Lord your God

Take Care you are attentive
[from IC]
Take care you are attentive to what the Lord is saying. The Lord will release you unexpectedly into a ministry that will seem obvious. He will use you to plant trees and to plant the word in peoples lives. Make sure you follow God’s leading. Men (superiors) will try to make you go other ways. Stay close to the Lord. He will use you in the area of intercession. Stay close to the Lord

[RW?] Don’t cast around and compare yourself with other men. Raise up the man of God in you. You are a man after my own heart. Speak out what I give you to say. There is no need to worry or fear. Don’t compare with other men around you or with me. You are insignificant compared to me, but I see Jesus in you. Raise up the man in you and face up to me. Use the gifts I have given you

A prayer project to the Caucasus and Black Sea
In 1980 I joined a prayer team visiting the Black Sea, travelling overland to get there.
We entered the Ukraine at Chop and travelled via Lvov, Kiev, Kharkov and Rostov-on-Don until we traversed the Caucuses passing:-
At this point the tyre of the vehicle in which were travelling in was shot at by a “border guard” who was walking along with the shepherds. He looked like a shepherd with a gun (to protect his sheep from Wolves)At the time Georgia was resisting Russification although the geo-political situation was lost on us. He objected to having his photo taken and when we would not all give him all our film he shot one of the tyres. We had to pull in and change the tyre.
We went to a Georgian Ballet in Tblisi
Tblisi Opera and Ballet Theatre
and then it was on to the Black Sea stopping at
and then home via Krasnodar, Rostov, Kharkov, Kiev, Lvov, and …….train!
In Kiev two Ukrainian girls became Christians. They sent Christmas cards for a number of years
While travelling from Lvov to Chop somewhere near Stryi our vehicle was involved in a collision with a truck.
We had to return to Lvov and take the train home via Budapest, Vienna and Arnhem.
We had to sleep on Budapest Railway Station
It took ten years for our prayers to be realised and then it was as if things moved into fast forward as the Soviet satellites became more independent and more democratic. Prayer changes things even if it takes ten years.

Freed from the Fear of Men
“You have had much contact with occult powers, and that is coming from your ancestors. In Jesus name I bind this fear and break these occult powers coming from his ancestors in Jesus name. I break the fear of man and I bind you Satan, also his complete emotional life, which is so confused. I rebuke it in the name of Jesus Christ and I break every power that is practised on this boy. Lord I lay hands on him for healing. Lord he needs healing of his emotional life. He needs healing of his nervous system. Lord he needs the power of the Holy Spirit. John open your heart and rest and peace cometh down into your heart. You are free, every power has gone. You are standing in the power of Jesus Christ who fills your hear with peace and rest. In the coming time, the Lord will mightily heal you and he’ll prepare you for the future. In Jesus Name Amen! You are free. I see it. Amen”
I prayed for understanding but the Lord told me not to delve into the past

God shouted from the heavens that he is pleased with you. The Lord has already prepared the way for you, with your needs. He loves you very dearly and you go the right side. The Lord will meet your material, social and physical needs. God has prepared people who will welcome you. So I am with you even to the end of time
God loves you not because of anything you have done. He is well pleased with you. He will do a new thing in your life, he will bring you into a new relationship with him as “Daddy”. You will not be a square peg in a round hole. You are renamed “John the Beloved”

“Going for a Spin”
I was driving D’Artangnon III (a teal blue MGB) slowly from Priesthaugh to Craik along a narrow track, edged on the left by a high dry stone wall and on the right by a bank. Suddenly a tractor appeared (red dot on map) out of a field and I remember thinking “Oh No the tractor… Oh No the bank” but somehow the car managed to “spin” on its axis. I had no explanation until several years later when I was studying angelic protection, while I was living in Nepal. I believe the Lord provided angelic protection for me that day

Aquiring a Spiritual GPS
Blaithwaite House, Cumbria
In mid 1976 I was invited to a series of meetings at Blaithwaite House and as I was looking for a spiritual dynamic in my life I decided to go. I went forward at the end of the last meeting in order to be filled with and to remain in sync with the Spirit. I did not immediately feel anything but gradually over time I began to experience the Spirit guiding me, leading me, encouraging me, strengthening me and challenging me., I discovered I had a spiritual GPS to guide me through life
